Safety Tips for Your Kids
Sure your kids want an ATVwho doesn’t? But if they spend less time outdoors and more time inside watching Direct TV you may want to make sure they’re prepared to handle an all terrain vehicle safely. Here are a few tips for kids on these machines:
Start Old: If you have any doubts about your kids being old enough to operate an ATV alone, don’t let them. We say a good age to allow them to ride solo is around 14 but may go all the way up to 16 depending on laws in your state.
Get Them Gear: Protective gear like helmets and leg braces may not look too cool but they could change your child’s life. If you have the opportunity, buy them some life-saving gear secondhand and make them wear it each and every time they ride.
Talk About Safety: The number one cause of ATV accidents is reckless behavior so your kids should know what you expect before they ever mount the vehicle. Talk to them about the rules and speed regulations and take their privileges away if necessary.
